[Original album "A Hard Day's Night - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" edited by United Artists, USA] This album was released in June 1964 as the original soundtrack of "A Hard Day's Night" (Japanese title: The Beatles Are Coming, Yea! Yea! Yea!), the memorable first movie in which The Beatles starred. It was released in the UK as their third original album, but in the US it was released as a movie soundtrack by the film distributor United Artists, not Capitol. At the height of their popularity, just before their sensational first US appearance in February 1964 and their large-scale US tour starting in August, it topped both the Billboard and Cashbox album charts for 14 consecutive weeks. It has sold over 4 million copies in the US alone. The UK version includes 12 tracks in total, including the 7 tracks recorded as movie soundtracks on side A of the record, the 4 orchestral instrumentals from George Martin's score, and 4 tracks recorded as movie soundtracks. It is released in stereo and mono, just like the Capitol version. Unlike the UK version, all the songs on the album are movie soundtracks, and the sound source itself is the version used in the movie, making it a pure soundtrack album. It was first released on CD in 2014 in "THE U.S. BOX", but it was remastered with a different sound source from the original sound source, so this is the first time it has been released on CD with the original sound source. CD = Original United Artists Masters (Stereo & Mono) Includes analog master sound sources that faithfully reproduce each stereo/mono track from the 1964 original album edited by United Artists in the United States. The sound source is a direct transfer from the original 60's version, and the noise peculiar to vinyl records is removed, and the powerful dynamic sound unique to the American version of the time is restored in the latest remaster. Unlike the UK version, the sound source itself is recorded in the version used in the movie as a movie soundtrack, so both the stereo and mono are based on the mono sound source for the movie, which is characterized by a single track without vocal overdubs, and you can hear single track vocals on "And I Love Her" and "Koi ni Ochitara". The stereo mix of the first half of the recording is a pseudo-stereo version of the mono sound source for the movie, and the left and right balance is processed uniquely to create a stereo feeling, and "Can't Buy Me Love" is forced to pan at the chorus, making it a pseudo-stereo mix unique to that time. In addition, a long version of "I'm Gonna Cry", which was not used in the movie, is included. Four instrumental tracks performed by an orchestra are recorded in real stereo. "Ringo's Theme (This Boy)" was also released as a single in Japan at the time. The mono mix in the second half is recorded as the original mono sound source without pseudo-stereo. All 24 songs on the stereo/mono album are analog master sound sources different from the current digital remaster. DVD = Video Album / Audio Album The video album contains all 12 songs from "A Hard Day's Night" in original edited video footage. The footage used in the promotional video format is based on the original footage from the movie and is recorded in a standard version with the top and bottom of the image not trimmed, which is different from the widescreen size currently being videoed. Here, a "new stereo remix" sound source by the latest AI demix, different from the actual movie soundtrack, is used. The instrumentals also combine scenes from the movie, making it a video album that visualizes "A Hard Day's Night" in the latest edited version in 2023. In addition, all 12 songs from "A Hard Day's Night" are recorded as an audio album with three different sound source sources. This slideshow contains three different sound sources: the latest "New Stereo Remix", the original 1960s "Stereo Mix" and "Mono Mix". You can switch between the audio sources by selecting the audio even during playback, so you can compare the different mixes. [History and Evolution of The Beatles' American Compilation] The Beatles' full-scale record debut in America began with a release from the Capitol label when they first landed in America in 1964. The influence of the major label "Capitol" in America, the world's largest market, is enormous, and as is customary in the American music industry, albums and singles that differ from the British originals are released due to promotional policies such as "recording hit singles to increase album sales", "albums should be limited to 12 songs", and "inflating the number of albums to gain more sales". The basic UK concepts of "pre-release singles will not be included on the album" and "mono is mainstream and stereo is substandard" were ignored, and the album was edited with Capitol's director Dave Dexter Jr.'s own selection of songs, as well as the original UK sound source being remastered in the US in a unique way, adding equalizers and reverbs, changing the stereo sound image, and even creating pseudo-stereo from mono, and for some songs, having the master sent to them before the release in the UK, resulting in a different mix. The Beatles were not happy with Capitol's arbitrary alteration policy, and the controversial "Butcher Cover" in 1966 is said to have been a protest against the Beatles' own Capitol editing at the time of release. After "Sgt. Pepper's" in 1967, the albums were standardized, but the release of original albums edited in the US, such as "Magical Mystery Tour" and "Hey Jude", continued, and even after the band broke up in the 1970s, the best albums on the Red and Blue Records, "1962-1966" and "1967-1970", as well as compilation albums such as "Rock 'n' Roll Music", "Love Songs", and "Reel Music", were released with US-led planning and editing. This unique editing policy of Capitol in the US, which differed from that of the UK, continued throughout the analog record era and into the CD era, and not only were the analog releases distinctively different mixes, but even in the stereo/mono sound sources like those in the UK, the sound sources themselves were uniquely remastered and cut, giving the sound a different texture, resulting in a "sound" unique to the US. In the era of records, where differences in sound sources and unique edits were permitted in countries around the world, the era of CDs saw the British original become the global standard, and sound sources were standardized, leading to the discontinuation of edited albums from around the world, including the United States. However, the original Capitol edited album was very popular in the United States, and was released on CD for the first time in 2004 as a limited box set. A new CD box set with expanded content was released in 2014, but all of the recorded sound sources, except for some characteristic Capitol sound sources, were replaced with global standard sound sources based on the 2009 remaster, and the CD version did not allow the original sound sources of the US Capitol to be heard. Although there were problems with the sound sources and editing policy that did not follow the Beatles' wishes, the unique American sound sources and edited albums produced in the 1960s analog record era have now been unified through digital remastering, making them a valuable archive of sound sources that can be considered a historical heritage unique to that era.
